3.1 characteristics of production mode of mold manufacturing

mold is a special tooling for the production of specific product parts, such as plastic mold, which is used to process plastic materials into a large number of parts with unified shape. In modern industrial production, 60% and 90% of industrial products need to use mold processing technology, and mold industry has become the basis of industrial development. Today, with the endless emergence of new products, the development and production of many products depend on mold production. According to the prediction of the international production technology association, 75% of the rough machining and 50% of the fine machining of parts in the machinery manufacturing industry in the 21st century need to be completed through molds, among which the automotive, electrical, communications, petrochemical, construction and other industries are the most prominent? 1I。 Under the premise of ensuring the mold quality, how to submit the mold to the user with the lowest cost and the shortest cycle is the main goal of the current mold industry. The characteristics and trends of the production mode of mold manufacturing industry can be summarized as follows:

(1) it is a typical single product, single sample and individual order production. Mold orders arrive at random one after another, and the number of orders changes seasonally

(2) almost every order has its particularity. In the whole process from product ordering decision to manufacturing, each set of mold has a certain degree of independence. Moreover, in different stages of mold development, the production schedule should be formulated and modified from coarse to fine for many times

(3) each mold must be designed creatively. Due to the particularity of different products in appearance, structure and molding process, each mold needs to be designed individually. Therefore, mold design is often divided into four stages: part process analysis and design, mold overall scheme design, overall structure design, and construction drawing design. In the process of mold development, the design takes a long time, about 1/3 of the whole development cycle
